Robert Sharples’ RV-7 | Melbourne, Victoria, Australia RV-7 #74208

Great work, Robert. We’re excited to see his first flight in his RV-7. He shares:

After 10 years of building my SB RV-7 kit, there were no more bits to assemble, and ground checks were all complete.
I have been flying a 1946 Cessna 140, so have some tail dragger experience, but the RV is a whole lot faster and the glass panel was a bit daunting. Fortunately, I had an experienced RV-7 pilot in the right hand seat in case anything untoward occurred (thanks Rob Rickards). However, my trepidation quickly subsided as we took to the air and the aircraft flew true and balanced.

I’ve completed the first 10 hours now, including aerobatic manoeuvres, and loving every minute. Thank you to Van’s for creating an incredible aircraft and to all those who assisted me along the journey.
