Paul Osborne | Elizabethtown, Ky RV8

It is my pleasure to report the first flight of our RV8 on 7 Nov 18 which we began 5 years, 3 months ago. It has a Grove gear, Todd’s canopy and upswept wing tips…seats by Classic Aero. She’s powered by a Lycoming IO 360 and a Hartzell variable pitch prop. Panel was built by Aerotronics with all Garmin dual G3Xs, G5, GTN 750, GTR 200 plus Garmin 305 autopilot controller. Many thanks to Jason Smith in their experimental side for build suggestions and great continued support. Could not have gotten it completed without the help of two terrific mentors, Al Grajek and Kevin Yokum…kudos to Vic Syracuse for the airworthiness inspection and other tips. She’s a nice handling bird looking forward to flying off the Phase One hours…and thanks to the tolerance of Martha Kay for accepting my long hours at the build hangar ..1,600+ hours…and her help on many aspects of the project.
