Paul Johnson and Ron Poe’s new RV-7A! | Hillsboro, Oregon RV-7A #70149
Paul writes to tell us all about the first flight of the world’s newest RV-7A! Congrats to him and Ron!
Finally! At last! The project I started 19 years ago has flown. It was a long time in the making, but was enjoyable all the way. You know the saying “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”. That’s sort of the story here. Work, business trips, vacations and glider flying during summers all conspired to drag this project out longer than I ever anticipated, but that’s all history now.
My building partner Ron Poe made the first flight and summed it up in one word, “SWEET!”
The plane is equipped with an Aerosport O-360-A1A engine, Hartzell CS prop and a panel full of Advanced Flight Systems, Dynon and Avidyne goodies.
Our thanks to Van’s Aircraft, Van’s Airforce and Rob at Advanced Flight Systems for all the wonderful support.
About the photo? Well, it’s a sign of the times, isn’t it?
