Allan and Michael Mahon’s new RV-14A! | London, Ontarion, Canada RV-14A #140027
Mike and Al wrote in to tell us about the first flight on their new RV–14A!
After a rewarding build process, our RV-14A took to the air for the first time on August 24th, 2019. Co-builder Michael Mahon performed the initial flight, it was an exhilarating experience but completely void of any issues. The aircraft flew hands off on the first flight and is a pleasure to fly.
All kits were ordered as standard “slow” build kits, which allowed us the opportunity to take ownership of every part of our build. We have taken the opportunity to develop new skills during the course of project, one of the most ambitious was to learn to paint with something other than a roller, brush or a can of spray paint.
Our 14 is powered by a 200hp IO-360 with an MT constant speed propeller. The cockpit is equipped with a full Dynon Skyview HDX package routing through Advanced Flight Systems harnesses and VP-X solid-state distribution network.
Mike and Al would like to thank all of the family and friends who supported and encouraged their project during its construction. Van’s Aircraft, Dynon/AFS and the Van’s builder community have been excellent resources for guidance and information throughout the project.
