Building an RV - Construction Plans/Manual

Experience has taught us that it is essential for builders to look ahead and form a clear idea of how the various structures that comprise an airplane go together. Simply building one piece after another, with no clear idea of how they will join later, just doesn’t work. On the other hand, if you have a complete set of plans and manuals before you begin construction, how do you keep up with the inevitable revisions and kit improvements?

Preview Plans Set - First Step

Our solution is to provide the construction plans and builder’s manual in two sections: Preview Plans Set and Construction Plans. When you order your first kit, (or before you order it) you must order the Preview Plans Set. This contains the complete drawings for the entire airplane and a complete builder’s manual. In fact the first few sections of the manual, explaining tools, workshop practice, plans reading, etc. are provided ONLY in the Preview Plans Set. Preview Plans have been reduced to 11"x17", and come in a three ring binder. They are easy to carry along on trips, or open on a desktop. They are revised only once or twice a year, so they are not the most current version, but they will serve their purpose: giving a new builder the "big picture". More information on purchasing the Preview Plans Set is available at the Preview Plans Set page located in the First Steps section.

Construction Plans - With Each Kit

When you order your airplane, each kit will contain a new set of Construction Plans, full size at approximately 24" x 36" and the appropriate sections of the builder’s manual. These will be the most current version and accurately reflect the parts in the box. Sample pages from the construction manual are provided below.

This arrangement has served us well. It has the added bonus of allowing the prospective builder to buy and review the Preview Plans Set for only about $50.00. A full size set of construction plans and manual costs about $275.00.
