ACONE is the the oldest aero club in the Americas. On Friday, June 6, ACONE presented Van with the 2014 Godfrey L. Cabot Award. The Godfrey L. Cabot Award, established in 1952, recognizes individuals or teams who have made unique, significant and unparalleled contributions to advance and foster aviation or space flight. Past recipients have included Igor I. Sikorsky, General James H. Doolittle, Paul Poberezny, Chuck Yeager, Bob Hoover, "Voyager’ Team " Burt Rutan, Dick Rutan & Jeana Yeager, .... Quite an impressive list! It was a proud moment to see Van receive the 2014 Godfrey L. Cabot award. A few RV builders were on hand to help honor Vans contributions. Left to right, Dave Fetherston (RV-14), Rich Mileika (RV-7), Van, Mike Draper (RV-8).
Aviation Consumer's Larry Anglisano flew the RV-12 at the 2014 U.S. Light Sport Expo in Sebring, Florida.
Van's aircraft has dominated the kit market with the RV line and now you can buy a factory-built RV-12 SLSA model.
Aviation Consumer's video below takes a detailed look at the RV-12 SLSA.
The RV-7A first flight report below is the 8000th RV recorded in our database as having flown.

RV-7A kit #73138, N660WS, has completed it’s first flight…all systems performed extremely well, and she flew “like an RV”.
RV-7A N660WS was completed in just over 5 years. She sports a Lycoming IO-360-M1B, Hartzell CS prop, Dynon Skyview system complete with autopilot, transponder and other systems, a Garmin radio stack (GMA-340, GNS430W, SL-40), and a Dynon D6 backup EFIS. Switches are Rockracks by Aveo, and the exterior navs and strobes are Aveo's LED system.
The interior is the complete Aviator package from Classic Aero with 5-point Hooker Harnesses. I'm planning on a polished aluminum w/ red accents exterior color scheme. First flight was perfect, all systems performed nominally!
Thanks to everyone who helped me get her built and flying, especially Alex, Jim, Gary and my wife Deborah!
(Oh, and a big thank-you to all the contributors on the Van's Air Force website!).

We often have between 7 to 8 planes parked in the factory hangar at nights, which makes for tight quarters.
The Aero-Lift in our hangar definitely helps reduce the 'squeeze' factor!
